Tuesday Tech News

There has been a lot of news today in the world of technology. My favorite, Apple and Facebook are in the news for many different reasons. Apple has some interesting job posts, and Facebook is buying an eBook developer.

An Apple job listing may hint at the company building a new web based versions of the iWork Applications.

“The iWork team is seeking an energetic and highly motivated software engineer to build the front and/or back end of scalable web applications,” reads the listing, spotted by Appleinsider. “The person will be part of the core engineering team responsible for the design and development of the software system.”

This seems like Apple will expand iCloud so that it offers browser based applications, moving Steve Jobs, to realm the Office Suites like Google Apps and Microsoft Suites.

In other news, Facebook acquired Push Pop Press, a digital publishing platform of eBooks, to go forward with their social media content. Push Pop posted this information on their website. They are best known for publishing the eBook that Al Gore wrote, “Our Choice”. They turned it into an iPad app and won an award.

There has been rumors that Facebook is going to launch an iPad app, in the near future.

“Although Facebook isn’t planning to start publishing digital books, the ideas and technology behind Push Pop Press will be integrated with Facebook, giving people even richer ways to share their stories,” said Push Pop Press co-founders.
